Our wine selections focus on championing old world regions, and other fine wines that pair perfectly with the complexity of spices found on our unique menu. Award winning chef, Joe Thottungal and his team are able to create a customized menu specifically for your special event, or you can enjoy our curated seasonal 6 Course Tasting Menu.

Coconut Lagoon is available for exclusive hire for up to 55 guests on the main floor. The space is versatile for an array of events, depending on your requirements. Our private dining rooms provide seating for up to 12 and 16 and guests. These rooms are located on the mezzanine level of the restaurant, with a beautiful view of the main floor dining room which is an ideal backdrop for any occasion.

Friends and neighbours, it will be our delight to welcome you back to the new Coconut Lagoon! We have been closed for more than two years, but here we are, with our beautiful new restaurant, grateful for your patience and support.
When Coconut Lagoon succumbed to a devastating fire in the early days of the pandemic it broke our hearts. But after some time for grieving, we dusted ourselves off and started re-imagining all the things a reborn Coconut Lagoon could be. The hollowed building gave us, quite literary, a blank slate, allowing us to dream big (and tall!) and to focus on what was truly important to us: our restaurant team, our neighbourhood, our community, and our cuisine.

The global pandemic has forced innovation and a rethinking of past ways of doing things. And for many of us in the restaurant world, the rethinking has been more than a creative process: it’s been a requirement for survival.
You will notice there is no more lunch buffet, and for reasons beyond the obvious health issues of crowding around a line of family style buffet food, sharing spoons and condiments and sauces. Buffets also produce untold food loss. In a world (and in this city) where there is so much food insecurity, eliminating as much waste as possible became a top priority for us. Paring down the menu to a size our kitchen team could execute with distinction and requiring reservations to ensure we buy and cook only enough for the day’s needs became priorities too. As did a fresh approach to south Indian cuisine, with a renewed focus on wines, craft beers and cocktails that complement the heady spicing in our food.

The new Coconut Lagoon will focus on contemporary south Indian cuisine, in particular the dishes of my home state of Kerala—a slender sliver of India’s Malabar coast, rich in seafood, coconuts, and the world’s finest spices. Our ever-changing dinner menu will showcase innovative Indian dishes, using seasonal ingredients from local producers. A chef’s tasting menu with wine pairings are offered as well and Coconut Lagoon will be available for exclusive hires for private functions, lunches and dinner.
